There’s something about Poudre Canyon that pulls you in right away. I’ve photographed many beautiful places, but this Colorado engagement shoot still amazed me. This stretch of Northern Colorado always feels a little wild in the best way. The second we stepped out of the car, the canyon walls were glowing and the air felt crisp. Right away, it was one of those evenings where everything lined up in that perfect Colorado way.
After that, we started along the river and let them ease into things while the water moved in the background. They were instantly comfortable. They laughed, teased each other, and slipped into that natural rhythm that makes photographing couples feel effortless. These are the moments I love most, when people forget about the camera and just fall into being themselves. Sam and Josh did exactly that.
As the evening went on, we wandered deeper into the canyon, the light shifted into that soft golden glow Poudre Canyon is known for. The tall pines, open meadows, and rocky cliffs blended into a dreamy backdrop that felt like peak Colorado. They walked hand in hand through the grass and stopped to take in the views. Every time they looked at each other, the whole place seemed to quiet down.
Later on, one of my favorite parts of the evening unfolded. They brought their dog, who immediately stole the show. Between the running, the cuddles, and the little in‑between moments, their gallery turned into a true snapshot of their life together. Outdoorsy. Warm. Connected.
