There’s something special about photographing weddings in Colorado, especially when the weather decides to show off a little. Alyssa and Jack’s Woodlands wedding in Morrison had that perfect moody, rainy vibe that makes everything feel more intimate. As a Colorado wedding photographer who spends a lot of time in the mountains, I love days like this. The drive in alone was absolutely beautiful. Winding past Red Rocks and those deep green hills, already felt like the start of a story.
The rain rolled in early, soft and steady, but it never slowed anyone down. If anything, it made the whole day feel cozy and cinematic. Woodlands has this clean, modern barn that pops beautifully against a misty backdrop. Watching Alyssa and Jack lean into the weather was honestly a dream. They laughed through the sprinkles, held onto each other, and let the day unfold exactly as it wanted to.
We wandered around the property, slipping between trees and open fields, umbrellas in hand and dresses lifted off the ground. Their wedding party kept the energy high, cheering them on and embracing the moodiness of the day. These are the moments I love most! The in‑between bits that feel real and alive. Being a Colorado wedding photographer means you get used to unpredictable weather, but you also learn how much magic it brings.
The details of their day tied everything together so well. Soft blue bridesmaid dresses, lush florals, thoughtful décor, and that warm, welcoming vibe Woodlands is known for. And of course, Mountain Crust rolled in with their iconic truck, serving up the kind of wood‑fired goodness that instantly makes guests smile. They’re one of my favorite Colorado wedding caterers because they bring both incredible food and such a fun, laid‑back energy.
By the time the reception kicked off, the sky had settled into a soft blue haze. String lights glowed, music filled the barn, and Alyssa and Jack danced like the rain had been part of the plan all along. It was one of those Colorado days that reminds me why I love my job, capturing love in all its wild, beautiful forms.
If you’re planning a wedding in Colorado and want photos that feel true to your day (rain, shine, mountains, or anything in between) I’d love to be there with you!
