Julia and Andy’s adventure elopement in Crested Butte, Colorado this past summer was seriously the best day ever and such a blast to be a part of. If you haven’t been to Crested Butte -GO NOW! It’s seriously my favorite little mountain town in Colorado and not only is it great for all things outdoors (skiing, biking, camping, hiking, etc) - it’s an AMAZING place for adventure elopements, engagement sessions, and weddings!

Julia and Andy were having a more “traditional” wedding in Crested Butte, and wanted to go a few days early to have an adventure elopement and exchange vows just the two of them. When they asked me to come and photograph it, I was SO excited! A lot of people love the idea of eloping, but can’t envision not having a wedding with all their friends and family. I loved what Julia and Andy did because it was best of both worlds - it’s your wedding, why not do both?!

When our initial plan fell through due to snow, we had to scramble to find a new location pretty quickly. We found the most GORGEOUS secluded and private spot for their ceremony and elopement, and I am so glad we did. Even though it took some off roading and literally driving through a river to get there. We had such a great time hiking and exploring all afternoon. It was so special being a part of their elopement and getting to document their day!

From Julia - “Andy and I fell in love camping, mountain biking, and hiking in Crested Butts, so it felt natural to start our marriage doing just that. We had a more traditional wedding ceremony planned at the Crested Butte Mountain Wedding Garden, but as the day drew closer, we started thinking that it didn’t feel like “us”. So, we planned a “fake” elopement where we could spend the day like our typical weekend adventures - we woke up in a tent near a field of wildflowers with a stunning mountain view, 4-wheeled across a sketchy river, hiked up a snow field, and took in the awe-inspiring views with our fur baby. It was the perfect representation of us as a couple, and such a special way to begin our lives together.”
